About Tianjin Foreign Studies University
TFSU is an institution of higher learning, with the discipline of Foreign Language & Literature taking the lead and Humanities, Economics, Administration & Management, Law, Education, Art, and Engineering balancing the overall disciplinary structure.
The university now has two campuses occupying a total area of 69.34 hectares: the Machang Road campus is included in the Ten Sites of Tianjin and features quintessential classical European-style buildings and the Binhai Campus is located in the picturesque university garden of Dagang District, Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA).
Currently, TFSU has an enrollment of over 10,000 full-time degree candidates (over 1,000 graduate students included) who come from 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. International Students from 48 countries are currently studying in various departments of TFSU. Of the teaching staff, 50% have had the experience of either studying orworking overseas (the number reaches 90% in some programs). Every year, some100 international experts and foreign teachers are invited to work in theuniversity.
The university attaches great importance to international academic and cultural exchanges. So far, it has established friendly andcooperative relations with some 100 universities and a number of educational institutions in over 40 countries. It is among the first universities, designated by Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters), to train and prepare full-time teachers for the Confucius Institute. It has co-sponsored Confucius Institutes in Soonchunhyang University (South Korea), University of Lisbon (Portugal), University of Toulouse (France), Volgograd State Pedagogical University (Russia), Jorge Tadeo Lozano de Bogotáin University (Columbia) and Kyiv State Linguistic University (Ukraine), and has hosted a variety of international educational and training programs at Sejong School (South Korea) and the Goethe German Language Center (Germany).
Advanced teaching facilities at TFSU help students better pursue their academic goals. Nearly a hundred state of the art language labs offer effective aid for students with their studies. A satellite television receiving system, covering 11 languages and 25 international channels, provides the university with access to foreign media. The university library has over one million books in its collection, along with nearly one thousand different of academic journals, magazines, and newspapers. Various sports facilities enrich students’ daily lives.
With decades of endeavors, TFSU has transformed itselfinto an important platform of Tianjin and China for developing international-orientated students and promoting multicultural communication.The university is on its way to becoming a prominent participant in China’s foreign language education.
